The Power of Ritual

Increasing Productivity through Healthy Work Relationships

The Power of Ritual

This seminar can take on many forms.  It can be done as a retreat for individuals, a corporate or organizational retreat for a group of individuals who work together, families or couples who want to reconnect and redirect their lives in a new way and even communities who want to rethink the way we live together.

The reason the material works for each of these kinds of applications is that it involves two very basic aspects of life: relationships and the rituals that happen within them.  By working with these two simple perceptions we can evaluate and understand a great deal of what goes well and what goes poorly in our lives.  We can redirect energies to experiences and activities that more directly reflect our inner world and values.  We can also develop an understanding of why change seems so difficult and what it takes to truly accomplish lasting transformation in our lives.

For this seminar we utilize "The Power of Ritual" workbook and walk through the material experientially.  The book explores 10 windows which act as both mirrors and points of vision through which we develop a perspective on our experience.  The windows open up opportunities to discover automated patterns (rituals) in our lives as individuals and groups.  As we uncover these we recognize the rituals which are dying or dead, no longer offering life and vitality.  We learn a process of releasing and honoring the past as we give birth to new visions and paths.

This can be a transformative experience and requires a minimum of three days though it is possible to use smaller pieces at a time.  For more information see
"The Power of Ritual" page.

Enhancing Intimacy in Your Relationships

The event will focus on ways to:
• enrich your relationship
• get a sharper focus on what each partner wants
• develop tools for negotiating differences
• maximize fun and enjoyment in your relationship

Session One: Fully Understand and Embrace Your Unique Differences
9:00 pm - 12:00 pm
In this session we use the Myers Briggs Type Indicator to explore the uniqueness of each partner's personality. This instrument is invaluable for understanding the particular needs and perspectives of each person and provides tools for handling conflicts that may undermine feelings of closeness and support. The seminar is fun and interactive with lots of time for processing the material with your partner.

Lunch 12:00 pm – 1:15 pm
Lunch is on your own. We encourage you to have lunch at a restaurant nearby. Couples are given a communication exercise to complete during their lunch time. It is a great opportunity to have a special face to face conversation and to practice some of what you learn.

Session Two: Tools for Success
1:30 pm – 4:00 pm
This extended time will include simple exercises for couples who would like to enhance their experience of closeness, manage their conflicts and examine their own relationship patterns. Investing time in your relationship can make all the difference in your experience of happiness and fulfillment. Learn why most people fail in achieving the kind of intimacy they are seeking. Discover simple practices to change

Listening to Divorce
If 50% of marriages end in divorce then it is probably safe to say that at least another 25% are not likely to be in happy marriages.  Maybe its even higher than 25%.  Perhaps more than half of the marriages that stay together are conflicted, fearful or holding on for dear life.  What is happening in the world that marriage is in such a state?  What happens to us when we marry?  What goes wrong?

In this seminar we listen to the issues that many divorcing adults have discovered to be the similarities in their experiences.  What is emerging out of  radical changes of the past century is a new paradigm for intimacy.  The new paradigm comes with new expectations and we are ill equipped to meet them.

When individuals and couples uncover the patterns that have played out in their relationships... the same ones that have plagued so many others, the heartache and the conflicts become more clear. We learn to let go of pain and release old wounds.  We open ourselves to forgiveness both for others and ourselves.  We begin a path toward more conscious relationships.

This seminar requires a minimum of 10 hours over a period of more than one day.  It can be broken into smaller pieces and held over a number of weeks.
